DESCRIPTION – An evergreen native tree with glossy dark green leaves and bronze tinted new growth. Will produce fluffy white flowers in summer followed by purple berries in Autumn and grow to 8m if left untrimmed. Quick growing.
CULTURAL - Prefers a full sun or part shade position for best results and becomes extremely hardy once established. Can be kept trimmed to the desired height and width and can be cut back quite hard to maintain its size. Regular trimming will produce more colourful new growth and keep the plant bushy. Will tolerate dry conditions once established and is reasonably frost tolerant. For best results fertilise with a slow release fertilizer in Spring.
LANDSCAPE USE - A great choice for a quick growing screen or tall windbreak, with its glossy green foliage making a good backdrop for other plants. It can also be grown in large containers or clipped into topiary shapes. Suitable for street plantings. Both fruit and flowers attract native birds.
