Garden Inspirations

I dream of Magnolia 'Genie'

If a little magic is what you’re after, then newly released compact deciduous Magnolia – Magnolia ‘Genie’ pbr – is sure to delight.

Small and beautiful

They say that good things come in small packages, and ‘Genie’ is no exception. Growing to only 3 metres, this compact magnolia is a striking selection for smaller gardens. Featuring dark tulip-shaped buds, which burst into deep burgundy blooms in August, it brings colour and brightness to dull Winter days.

A versatile selection

Due to its practical compact form, Magnolia ‘Genie’ can be used in a variety of landscaping settings. It makes a magnificent feature plant for smaller gardens, or can be planted along pathways or entrances for a formal look. It is also well suited to growing in containers, which can be moved to protect it from possum attack.

It is an inspired selection for Japanese-style gardens, especially if located near water features for a serene, calming effect. Underplant with clipped Azalea Kurumes, such as ‘ Kirin’ and ‘ Christmas Cheer’ or clipped swaves of Buxus microphylla to complete the look.
