A fantastic native alternative to traditional Buxus hedging with its grey-green foliage and bronze new growth. Its resilience to salt spray and wind make it ideal for harsh coastal sites. It is a very hardy performer being frost and drought tolerant requiring very little water.


Thrives in a full sun to part shade position and will tolerate most soil types providing they are well-drained. Prune lightly to maintain shape if desired. Once established it has low water requirements however in extended dry periods an occasional deep watering is recommended.

Landscape Uses

An exceptional performer for many garden and commercial applications due to its hardy nature. Especially successful in coastal plantings. Can work well in smaller space courtyards and balconies when grown in pots. Can be shaped and clipped into topiary.


Can be kept to 30cm high x 50cm wide or left to grow to 50cm high x 1.0m wide
