A medium sized compact shrub with gorgeous foliage, older growth is green-grey in colour with newer growth having warm red-purple tones that becomes more prolific in warmer months. Flowers are on show in winter with the stamen and surrounding area producing a yellow hue. Compared to the ‘Devils Blush’, ‘Red Devil’ has a slightly thinner leaf and grows more upright.

Cultural

Prefers a full sun to part shade position, if planted in a shaded position they will lose their vivid colour. Grows best in an acidic soil though is suited to most soil types as long as it has good drainage. Once established they are quite hardy and tolerant of dry periods. Prune in late spring to maintain shape.

Landscape Uses

Ideal for low maintenance and low water usage gardens. Can be used for borders or low hedging. Looks fantastic planted with Australian natives such as Banksia, Westringia and Callistemon.
