With a compact habit, and a continuous flow of eye-catching new foliage through spring and summer, this is a resilient performer in a variety of conditions. Rose-coloured blooms on racemes appear in late winter, creating an elegant cascade of flowers in contrast to the deep green foliage.

Thrives in well-drained, humus-rich, lime-free soils that mimic its native mountain forest habitat. It performs well in sun or light shade. Little pruning is required.

Landscape Uses

Use in mixed garden plantings or as an informal hedge in semi shaded areas. Combines well with Azalea, Camellia, Hydrangea and Helleborus.
