Asparagus densiflorus 'Myersii'
The bright and attractive evergreen Asparagus ‘Myersii‘, otherwise known as Foxtail Fern, is a fantastic groundcover and also looks great in hanging baskets. It‘s needle-like leaves on long narrow stems give it the appearance of a bushy foxtail, hence its common name. Produces inconspicuous, white flowers followed by red berries.
Cultural
This plant is a declared weed in some states and is considered highly invasive. Whilst ‘Myersii‘ generally produce less berries, ensure the plant is controlled if planted and dispose of appropriately. Berries are toxic.

Prefers a fertile, well-drained soil.
Aspect:
Full sun to shade.
Maintenance:
Tip prune to encourage bushy foliage. Apply a general fertiliser in spring to promote healthy growth. Will benefit from a yearly application of mulch.
Water Requirements:
Drought tolerant once established.
Seasonal Interest:
Spring to summer flowering, year round foliage interest.
Landscape Uses
Foxtail Fern can be planted both in the ground or in containers. Hanging baskets are a popular option for it, as well as for a groundcover plant as its dense fern-like foliage provides an attractive and unusual texture.
