Commonly known as ‘Gum Vine’ the Aphanopetalum resinosum is a glossy twining climber native to rainforest and wet areas of Queensland and New South Wales. Foliage is lush dark green with leaves ranging from ovate to lanceolate. Flowers are a yellowish-green and are comprised of four prominent sepals which are on display from late spring to early summer.


Prefers a part shade to full shade position and a humus rich soil. Fertilise in spring to keep foliage glossy and healthy. Can become woody over time and will respond well to heavy pruning. Is reasonable frost hardy and has no a pest or diseases noted.

Landscape Uses

Perfect for climbing up fences, wires, pergolas or trellis, looks fantastic in hanging pots as the foliage will cascade over the edges. Can be let run wild in native and informal gardens. A great alternative to Stephanotis.
