A perennial succulent with thick, fleshy, pale green to greyish leaves that form a neat, compact mound. In late summer to autumn, it produces striking clusters of star-shaped, creamy white flowers that gradually fade to soft pink, creating a frosty, ice-like appearance. The flowers sit atop sturdy, upright stems, which contrast beautifully with the thick foliage. The plant‘s overall form is dense and bushy, making it an eye-catching feature in gardens, especially when in full bloom.

Cultural

Sedum are best grown in soil with low to moderate fertility as high-nutrient soils can lead to floppy growth. Overall plant size will be smaller if grown in poor soil. To create winter interest, leave spent flowers intact and prune just before spring. Tolerant of frost and coastal conditions.
Soil:
Tolerates any well drained soil, suitable for poor soils.
Aspect:
Full sun.
Maintenance:
Prune back damaged or dead foliage in late autumn or winter, cutting as close to the base as possible to allow fresh growth to emerge. Apply a layer of compost and mulch after pruning. Susceptible to mildew, treat with a fungal spray or simply cut plants back to the ground.
Water Requirements:
Drought tolerant once established. Will benefit from occasional, deep watering during extended dry periods. Will not tolerate waterlogged soil.
Seasonal Interest:
Summer to autumn flowering.

Landscape Uses

Perfect for rock gardens, dry borders, and succulent plantings due to its compact size and ability to thrive in poor, well-drained soils. It works beautifully in mixed perennial beds, adding texture and colour with its frosty blooms. Its drought tolerance makes it an excellent choice for water-wise gardens and coastal landscapes, and it also serves as a striking accent plant in container arrangements.
