Syzygium australe Pleached
Requires full sun and can be trimmed or hedged to shape if required. Regular trimming will produce more colourful new growth and keep the plant bushy. Will tolerate dry conditions once established and is reasonably frost tolerant. For best results fertilise with a slow release fertilizer in Spring. Like all the other forms of Syzygium, Southern Select is prone to insect psyllids attack.
An ideal plant for a medium hedge 1m-3m high , or can be grown and shaped well in containers. Its attractive new growth is a feature. This is a fantastic native plant that will blend well into most garden styles. Regular pruning will control any attack by psyllids.
