Juniperus chinensis 'Spartan' Cloud
A cloud tree features a single plant with a series of cleared stems topped by rounded canopies, resembling clouds. Its fine-textured, dense foliage showcases a rich, deep green hue that persists throughout the year. The scale-like leaves are tightly packed along the branches, giving the plant a lush and refined appearance. These unique plants create a bold statement or focal point in any landscape.
Cultural
Female plants will produce blue-black, berry-like cones that take two years to mature; males plants produce catkin-like pollen cones.
Soil:
Prefers a fertile, well-drained soil but can tolerate poorer soils.
Aspect:
Full sun.
Maintenance:
Prune to shape as required. Apply a slow-release fertiliser in spring to promote healthy growth. Can be susceptible to aphids and scale- treat accordingly.
Water Requirements:
Drought tolerant once established but will benefit from supplementary watering. Will not tolerate waterlogged soil.
Seasonal Interest:
Year round foliage interest.
