Hydrangea macrophylla Blue Lace Cap

Cultural
Macrophylla perform best in a part shade position sheltered form the hot sun and wind with a rich, porous, moist soil. Dead head and prune to shape after flowering, Hydrangeas can be cut back quite hard if need be. Feed with an organic slow release fertiliser in late spring.
Blue varieties need an acidic soil with a pH of about 4.5-5. Soil can be treated with an Aluminium sulphate or Hydrangea bluing tonic to enhance flower colour.

Perfect for formal or cottage gardens though work wonderfully in many garden styles. Are great in ground or in containers and can be brought indoors for short periods of time to enjoy their display. Look beautiful as cut flowers and are perfect for wedding displays. Work well planted with other traditional favourites such as Camellias, Magnolias and Azaleas.
