Camellia japonica 'Royal Velvet'
Large semi double blooms of stunning dark velvet. A vigorous upright grower.
Cultural
Red varieties will grow well in a partly shaded warm position. Well drained, slightly acidic soil. Dense shade restricts flowering. Fertilise in spring and summer with a specific Camellia fertiliser or a complete organic fertiliser. Prune after flowering to maintain a compact shape.
Landscape Uses
Fantastic flowering garden shrubs, very hardy and drought tolerant once established. Suitable for growing as background specimens or screening in mixed garden plantings. Plant with other traditional favourites like Azalea, Pieris and Helleborus.
