Thymus serpyllum ‘Alba‘ forms a dense mat of small, aromatic, bright green leaves, with clusters of tiny, pure white flowers that create a soft, cloud-like effect above the foliage during summer, offering both texture and a subtle contrast in garden beds.

Cultural

Creeping Thyme can tolerate frost but some foliage may die back. It is sensitive to wet conditions and will not cope with humidity.
Soil:
Tolerates any well-drained soil, suitable for poor soils.
Aspect:
Full sun.
Maintenance:
Requires little maintenance. If required, prune away dead or damaged growth in early spring or late summer. If plant lacks vigour apply a liquid fertiliser in spring. Can be affected by scale in dry summers- monitor and treat accordingly.
Water Requirements:
Drought tolerant once established. Will benefit from occasional, deep watering during extended dry periods. Will not tolerate waterlogged soil.
Seasonal Interest:
Spring to autumn flowering.

Landscape Uses

A versatile, low-growing groundcover ideal for filling gaps between pavers, softening garden edges, and creating a dense, carpet-like effect in rockeries or cottage gardens. Its delicate white flowers attract pollinators, making it a great addition to wildlife-friendly and herb gardens, while its drought tolerance allows it to thrive in dry, sunny landscapes, including coastal and Mediterranean-style plantings.
