A popular apple variety known for its sweet, crisp, and juicy apples with a bright red and yellow skin. ‘Gala‘ apples are medium-sized with a fine texture, making them excellent for fresh eating. Harvest apples in mid-autumn when they are firm but mature.

Cultural

Gala‘ is partially self-fertile and capable of fruiting on its own, cross-pollination with another apple variety that flowers at the same time will enhance fruit set.

Maintenance:
Prune in winter to maintain shape. Apply a general fertiliser in spring to promote healthy growth. Will benefit from annual application of compost and mulch in spring. Monitor for common pests and diseases, such as apple scab, fire blight, and codling moth and treat accordingly.
Water Requirements:
Will tolerate dry periods once established but fruit development will benefit from supplementary watering.
Seasonal Interest:
Spring flowering, autumn fruiting.
