Extremely hardy plant with ornamental silvery grey foliage. Bright blue flowers from Autumn to late Spring add to its appeal. Responds well to clipping for hedging and to create tight clustered balls and mounds (see Topiary).

Cultural

Teucrium fruticans is tolerant of coastal conditions, light frost, and reflective heat. Can tolerate part shade but performs better in full sun.
Soil:
Tolerates any well-drained soil, suitable for poor soils.
Aspect:
Full sun to part shade.
Maintenance:
Prune regularly when young to encourage compact, bushy growth. Prune as required throughout the year to maintain size and shape. Apply a slow release fertiliser after flowering to promote healthy growth.
Water Requirements:
Drought tolerant once established. Will benefit from occasional, deep watering during extended dry periods. Will not tolerate waterlogged soil.
Seasonal Interest:
Summer flowering, can spot flower throughout year.
