DECIDUOUS,FEATURE,FLOWERING,FULLSUN,PARTSHADE

This small, semi-deciduous Dogwood is renowned for its prolific display of large, showy bracts that mature from a creamy-yellow to vivid white and pink. In cooler climates, its soft-green, pendulous leaves turn brilliant shades of red and orange before falling in winter. Adding to their year round appeal are their round, raspberry-like fruits that appear from summer to autumn. A cross between Cornus kousa and Cornus capitata, 'Eric Gennet' can cope with Australian summers better than other cultivars.

Cultural

Can be semi-decidous in warmer climates. Cornus can be slow to establish, ensure they recieve adequate water for the first few years.
Soil:
Prefers a fertile, well-drained soil.

Full sun to part shade.
Maintenance:
Prune from winter-early spring only to enhance shape or remove damaged branches. Does not respond well to heavy pruning. Will benefit from a yearly application of mulch.
Water Requirements:
Moderately drought tolerant once established but will benefit from supplementary watering. Will not tolerate waterlogged soil.
Seasonal Interest:
Spring flowering, autumn foliage colour. Can spot flower in summer.

Landscape Uses

A fantastic feature tree with year-round visual appeal. Its elegant branching and manageable size make it ideal for smaller landscapes, specimen planting or incorporated into mixed borders. Well-suited to woodland, Japanese-inspired and contemporary garden designs, it also works beautifully along borders or near outdoor living areas where its spring bracts, summer foliage and vibrant autumn colour can be fully appreciated.
