A small-leafed cultivar of Boston Ivy with deep-green fringed foliage that turns crimson red in autumn. Parthenocissus 'Lowii' is a gentle, self-clinging climber which is slower growing and more restrained in its ambition compared to regular Boston Ivy. It grows more appressed to its climbing surface, making it an ideal choice for narrow spaces, where green coverage is desired without taking up too much space.

Cultural

Performs best in a position sheltered from harsh afternoon sun in warmer climates. For the first 1-2 years, train the direction of growth horizontally to ensure even wall coverage from the bottom to top.
Soil:
Tolerates any well-drained soil, suitable for poor soils.
Aspect:
Full sun (morning) to part shade
Maintenance:
If required, prune in spring to remove any old or unwanted growth. Apply a general fertiliser in spring to promote healthy growth. Will benefit from a yearly application of mulch.
Water Requirements:
Drought tolerant once established but will benefit from supplementary watering if in full sun.
Seasonal Interest:
Autumn foliage colour.

Landscape Uses

A tough climber that is great for tight and narrow spaces to create a living ‘green’ wall that glows vibrant red in autumn.
