Juniperus chinensis 'Spartan'
Juniperus chinensis ‘Spartan‘ is a fast-growing evergreen conifer with a narrow, upright, pyramidal shape. Its fine-textured, dense foliage showcases a rich, deep green hue that persists throughout the year. The scale-like leaves are tightly packed along the branches, giving the plant a lush and refined appearance. As it matures, it broadens slightly at the base while retaining its sleek, elegant profile.
Cultural
Responds well to pruning, can be used for topiary. Female plants will produce blue-black, berry-like cones that take two years to mature; males plants produce catkin-like pollen cones.
Soil:
Prefers a fertile, well-drained soil but can tolerate poorer soils.

Maintenance:
Prune to shape as required. Apply a slow-release fertiliser in spring to promote healthy growth. Can be susceptible to aphids and scale- treat accordingly.
Water Requirements:
Drought tolerant once established but will benefit from supplementary watering. Will not tolerate waterlogged soil.

Year round foliage interest.
