A tall, slender form with dense, vertical branching that creates a column-like silhouette. Its striking, silvery-blue foliage adds a soft, cool-toned contrast. This classic Mediterranean variety does not form many seed pods.

Cultural

Cupressus ‘Glauca‘ requires very little, if any, pruning and is tolerant of heavy frosts (to -10 degrees C).
Soil:
Tolerates any well-drained soil, suitable for poor soils.
Aspect:
Full sun to part shade.
Maintenance:
Prune lightly in early spring to lightly shape or to remove any damaged branches. Prune in late summer to reduce size if required. Apply a slow-release fertiliser in spring. Susceptible to canker, ensure pruning tools are sanitised to avoid spreading fungal spores between plants.
Water Requirements:
Drought tolerant once established but will benefit from supplementary watering.
Seasonal Interest:
Year round foliage.

Landscape Uses

Ideal for creating dramatic vertical accents, often used to line pathways, driveways, or frame entrances with its elegant, columnar shape. Its refined structure also makes it perfect as a focal point in formal gardens or as a privacy screen, adding both architectural interest and a striking contrast to other plantings.
