Punica granatum 'Ben Hur' pbr (Pomegranate) is a new variety that produces large fruit with deep red skin and arils. The fruit is sweet and juicy with a slight tanginess.
Cultural
Grows best in a full sun position with free-draining soil. Performs well in areas with cold winters and hot, dry summers. Once established will tolerate drought and frost. Water well during fruiting period to improve fruit quality. It is self-pollinating and has a vigorous growth habit. Prune in winter whilst dormant.
Landscape Uses
Pomegranates make a very ornamental feature tree, and perform well in pots. Ideal for the Aussie Mediterranean garden paired with citrus and figs. Can also be used to create a colorful border with its bright red flowers and fruits.
