Osmanthus x fortunei
Characterised by serrated, dark green glossy leaves Osmanthus x fortunei is a wonderful medium sized shrub and can be planted to form a fragrant hedge. Its leaves are used in traditional Jasmin tea and its small perfumed flowers appear in spring.
Cultural
Tolerant of severe frosts. Fruit is rarely seen in cultivation.

Tolerates any well-drained soil.
Aspect:
Full sun to part shade.
Maintenance:
Prune after flowering to maintain size and shape. Apply a general fertiliser in spring to promote healthy growth. Will benefit from a yearly application of mulch.
Water Requirements:
Drought tolerant once established but will benefit from supplementary watering if in full sun.
Seasonal Interest:
Late autumn flowering.
Landscape Uses
Can be used as a specimen plant when trimmed to maintain a dense shrub form. Well suited for pots. It makes a wonderful dense perfumed evergreen hedge with its sweet-scented flowers.
Dimensions
Can be kept to 1.0m high x 50m wide or left to grow to 3.0m high x 1.0m wide.
