Magnolia hybrid var. 'White Fairy' pbr
A small to medium-sized tree with a compact, conical shape. It produces large, crisp white flowers with a slightly tulip-shaped form in early to mid-spring. The flowers are elegant and fragrant, adding a delicate charm to the tree. The dark green foliage has minimal leaf drop, providing consistent visual interest throughout the growing season.
Cultural
Evergreen Magnolias can tolerate part shade but do best in a sunny position, sheltered from strong winds. Once established they are heat and frost tolerant.
Soil:
Prefers a fertile, slightly acidic, well-drained soil.
Aspect:
Full sun to part shade.
Maintenance:
Prune in late winter or early spring to maintain shape or remove any damaged or diseased growth. Apply a general fertiliser in spring to promote healthy growth. Will benefit from a yearly application of mulch.
Water Requirements:
Moderately drought tolerant once established but will benefit from supplementary watering. Will not tolerate waterlogged soil.
Seasonal Interest:
Late winter to spring flowering.
Landscape Uses
The most outstanding flowering screening plant. Ideal for background planting, hedging, or creating privacy in gardens, it works beautifully in pleached hedges. For a layered effect, pair it with Murraya for a double-hedged look, or with Helleborus for a more relaxed, informal appearance. It also performs well in large containers, especially when regularly clipped.
