Magnolia grandiflora 'St Mary'
An elegant evergreen tree with a pyramidal to upright growth habit. The leaves are large, glossy, and dark green on the upper side, with a contrasting rusty-brown underside. It produces large, creamy white, cup-shaped flowers that can reach up to 30 cm in diameter. These blooms are highly fragrant and appear from late spring through summer.
Cultural
Evergreen Magnolias can tolerate part shade but do best in a sunny position, sheltered from strong winds. Once established they are heat and frost tolerant.
Soil:
Prefers a fertile, slightly acidic, well-drained soil.

Maintenance:
Prune in late winter or early spring to maintain shape or remove any damaged or diseased growth. Apply a general fertiliser in spring to promote healthy growth. Will benefit from a yearly application of mulch.
Water Requirements:
Moderately drought tolerant once established but will benefit from supplementary watering. Will not tolerate waterlogged soil.

Late spring to autumn flowering.
