Acacia baileyana Purpurea
Acacia baileyana Purpurea is a fast-growing shrub that can be cut back to encourage new growth and keep it shrub-shaped. It has feathery silver-grey bipinnate foliage which features striking purple new growth for most of the year. In spring, it is graced with masses of spherical golden yellow flower heads.
Cultural
Plant in sunny positions in well-drained soils. Will tolerate dry conditions once established. However, it can be short-lived, usually lasting ten to fifteen years.
Landscape Uses
Makes a colourful contrasting feature tree or can be trimmed back hard to maintain shape and size. Will self seed so take care not to plant adjacent to native bushland. Fantastic for urban gardens.
