A compact, bushy shrub with rich, dark green foliage that provides a striking contrast to its abundant, eye-catching flowers, which develop into purple berries during autumn. Both flowers and berries are edible. The blooms feature vibrant, deep pink to purple tubular petals that delicately hang in clusters, creating a cascading effect. They flower from late spring through to autumn.

Cultural

Thrives in a position with partial to full shade, as it prefers protection from harsh midday sun. It grows best in well-drained, humus-rich, moist soil and should be watered regularly, especially during dry periods, though it doesn't tolerate waterlogging. For optimal growth, fertilise with a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in spring. Pruning after flowering helps maintain its compact, bushy shape.

Landscape Uses

An excellent choice for adding vibrant colour to shaded garden beds, borders, or patios, its compact, bushy growth makes it ideal for containers or as an accent plant in smaller spaces. As both flowers and berries are edible it makes a wonderful addition to a kitchen garden.
