Magnolia x soulangeana 'Dawn Light' pbr
Magnolia ‘Dawn Light’ is a brand-new release deciduous Magnolia with uniquely purple-pink super-sized flowers. In the depths of winter ‘Dawn Light’ brings intense colour to the garden large lavender-pink flowers held against the bare canopy. These fragrant blooms can measure up to 30cm across, providing a striking garden focal point heralding the arrival of warmer seasons. Our Magnolia ‘Dawn Light’ are grafted for optimal growing performance.
Cultural
Deciduous Magnolias should be planted in a sheltered position to avoid damage from strong winds and protection from the hot afternoon sun. ‘Dawn Light’ can tolerate a part-shade position but flowering may be reduced.
Soil:
Prefers a fertile, slightly acidic, well-drained soil.
Aspect:
Full sun to part shade.
Maintenance:
Prune in late summer or autumn to maintain shape or remove any damaged or diseased growth. Apply a general fertiliser in spring to promote healthy growth. Will benefit from a yearly application of mulch in spring. Generally pest-free, but it‘s a good idea to monitor for common garden pests such as aphids and scale.
Water Requirements:
Will tolerate dry periods once established but performs better with adequate moisture. Will not tolerate waterlogged soil.
Seasonal Interest:
Late winter to spring flowering.
Landscape Uses
Magnolia ‘Dawn Light’ is a spectacular specimen tree, looking fantastic whether planted as a single specimen in a lawn or incorporated as a seasonal focal point in a wider garden setting. As a medium sized Magnolia, it is suitable for use in suburban gardens and other landscaping projects. It pairs beautifully with other traditional flowering favourites, such as Camellias, Clivias, Hydrangeas and Hellebores, creating a lush and harmonious display.
