Liriope muscari 'Big Blue'
Commonly known as lilyturf, ‘Big Blue’ is a compact strappy leaf plant that grows in a clumping fashion. It’s rich green foliage is heightened by dainty purple flower spikes through summer and autumn followed by deep blue berries.
Cultural
Prefers a well-drained soil in a sunny or semi shaded position, will tolerate full shade although foliage will become elongated. Tolerates frost or coastal conditions. Cut old foliage down to the ground in winter to promote fresh new leaves in spring. Is susceptible to small grubs or snails.
Landscape Uses
Widely used in landscaping Liriope are an ideal ground cover and border plant, smaller varieties are also perfect for planting between pavers. They are also great for underplanting and look fantastic with other glossy leaf plants such as Gardenia florida and Helleborous varieties.
