Osmanthus heterophyllus rotundifolius
An evergreen shrub with thick, glossy, dark green leaves that resemble holly, but are softer and less prickly. In autumn and winter, it produces clusters of tiny white flowers that have a sweet and delicate fragrance.
Cultural
Tolerant of severe frosts. Fruit is rarely seen in cultivation.

Tolerates any well-drained soil.

Full sun to part shade.
Maintenance:
Prune after flowering to maintain size and shape. Apply a general fertiliser in spring to promote healthy growth. Will benefit from a yearly application of mulch.
Water Requirements:
Drought tolerant once established but will benefit from supplementary watering if in full sun.
Seasonal Interest:
Late autumn flowering.
Landscape Uses
This shrub is ideal for hedging, as it forms a dense and compact shape. Particularly suited to forming in to clipped balls and mounds. It can also be grown in pots or containers, where it will add interest and aroma to patios or balconies.
