Commonly known as dwarf sacred bamboo, the domestica nana is a hardy small shrub with a dense growth habit. Its foliage has a range of vivid colours changing from green to shades of red, orange and yellow as it ages.

Prefers a part shade to full sun position. Tolerates most soils, but prefers soil with good drainage. Is drought and frost hardy. Responds well to pruning and can be cut back quite hard. Fertilise in spring.

Landscape Uses

Perfect for low hedges, borders and rockeries. Very effective when mass planted. Great for oriental themed gardens, or to add a splash of colour. Looks great planted with Magnolia alba, Loropetalum 'Plum Gorgeous' and Citrus.
