Ilex meserveae 'Heckenblau' is a cultivar of blue holly and the name translates as ‘Blue Hedges’. Also known as 'Blue Princess', it is prized for its glossy, dark green leaves with blue tints and its abundant production of bright red berries that persist throughout winter.
Cultural
Plant in full sun to partial shade in moist, well-drained soil. An extremely hardy plant once established, will tolerate everything from drought to frost and is suited to harsh coastal environments.
Landscape Uses
Great for screening and hedging and can be cut for arrangements, especially when berries adorn the branches. Can be pruned to maintain shape and size.
