'Phantom' is a striking perennial with a strong upright habit, deep purple-tinged stems and attractive deep green foliage. In summer, it produces large, domed clusters of soft pink flowers that create a bold, airy display, attract pollinators and add height and presence to mixed borders.

Cultural

Generally low-maintenance and relatively pest-free, although aphids, caterpillars and powdery mildew can occasionally occur. It performs best when grown in consistently moist soil and not allowed to dry out.
Soil:
Consistently moist, well-drained soil; adapts well to heavier soils.
Aspect:
Full sun to part shade.
Maintenance:
Cut back in late winter or early spring. Stake plants if grown in exposed conditions or particularly rich soil, as the tall stems can sometimes become floppy.
Water Requirements:
Water regularly during periods of hot or dry weather, and plant in moisture-retentive soil for best growth and flowering.
Seasonal Interest:
Late spring to summer flowering, with attractive seed heads in autumn.

Landscape Uses

Ideal for mixed borders, perennial gardens, cottage gardens, structural space-filling and pollinator-friendly plantings, it is particularly effective towards the back of borders, where its strong upright habit and summer flowers add height, structure and seasonal colour.
